Alleged 9/11 mastermind to go on trial in June 2028

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, will go on trial before a US military court in June 2028, an official said Thursday.

A spokesman for the US military court at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where Mohammed is incarcerated, said the trial would begin on June 5, 2028.

Mohammed, also known as "KSM," was considered one of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's top lieutenants before he was captured in March 2003 in Pakistan.
