Trump drops $10 billion IRS lawsuit in exchange for $1.7 billion fund for allies
The US Justice Department on Monday announced the creation of a $1.7 billion fund to compensate allies of President Donald Trump who believe they were politically persecuted by the department under his predecessor Joe Biden's term in office.
The fund is part of a deal to bring an end to Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service for the leak of his tax returns during his first stint in the White House.
