Q: I’ve been with my partner for a year.

I never wanted to date around as casual hook-ups have never really interested me.

Now I’m thinking of the next steps and if we will get engaged or not this year.

It’s something we have talked about in general terms.

I am excited at the thought, but I do wonder if it is too soon.

We have lived together since Christmas last year, and it’s been fantastic so far.

I don’t have a lot of experience and neither does my partner, although they have dated more people than I have.

I think I do want to marry this person, but are these doubts a sign that it’s too soon?

We haven’t made any concrete plans, but it feels like this is in our future.

I’m worried that my lack of experience is going to hinder me and us if we do decide to make things official.

How do I know if this is the real deal and getting married would be the right path for us?
