Wildfires in southwest France have forced mass evacuations, with Bordeaux Mayor Thomas Cazenave saying up to 90,000 people have been affected and 5,000 to 6,000 evacuees are sheltering in emergency centres.
"The evacuation is continuing, particularly for the most vulnerable people," Cazenave said, including nursing home residents and children at holiday camps.
Meanwhile, evacuees described chaotic overnight escapes as fires advanced toward Bordeaux.
France and Spain have both requested European Union assistance as crews continue battling the blazes.
