Wrestler and actor Andre The Giant is being honored with a roadside marker in a small town in North Carolina that was once his home.
Officials plan to unveil the marker Thursday.
The wrestler, whose real name was Andre Rene Roussimoff, lived on a ranch near Ellerbe.
He was involved in the community even fighting a landfill for low-level radioactive waste.
Billed as 7-foot-4 and 520 pounds, he was a towering figure in wrestling during the 1970s and 1980s, famously facing Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania in 1987.
Later that year, he appeared as Fezzik in “The Princess Bride.” He died in 1993 at age 46.
