Premier Danielle Smith announced earlier this week that Albertans will have the opportunity to vote on whether the province should begin the legal process that could lead to a future binding referendum on separation.
The move has been widely criticized, especially by those in Alberta’s separatist movement, who had wanted to see separation on the ballot in the Oct. 19 referendum.
