Trump defends drug price claims by citing 'two ways of calculating'
President Donald Trump, known for popularizing the term "fake news," seems to have shifted focus to a healthy dose of fake math in defending impossibly large cuts to prescription drug prices.
During a Thursday event with drugmaker Regeneron, Trump argued that prescription drug prices were cut by well over 100%.
This is mathematically impossible without prices dropping to zero and then manufacturers presumably paying customers to use their products.
Trump acknowledged boasting about reductions of “500%, 600%” but called it a "different kind of calculation." His health chief, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also tried to justify the incorrect calculations, but no valid math supports Trump’s claims.
