Sir Keir Starmer has said it is "staggering" that he was not informed that Peter Mandelson had failed security vetting ahead of his appointment as UK ambassador to the US.
Speaking to Sky's Sam Coates, the prime minister stated that it was "unforgivable" that he still had not been made aware of the failed vetting when he told parliament that "due process" had been followed.
Sir Keir is facing calls from the Tories and Reform UK - and from some of his own MPs - to resign over the scandal.
