President Donald Trump has stirred confusion by saying the U.S. will send an additional 5,000 American troops to Poland.
Thursday's announcement follows weeks of changing statements from Trump and his administration about future troop levels in Europe.
Trump said on social media that the deployment of additional troops stems from his good relationship with Poland's president.
This month began with the Pentagon saying it would pull 5,000 troops from Germany.
Then the Pentagon canceled a deployment of 4,000 U.S. troops to Poland.
The Pentagon later said the the deployment was “a temporary delay."
