Can the US really block Iran’s ports? Experts analyse Trump's threats

Al Jazeera Al Jazeera —

The US has threatened to block Iran's ports as tensions escalate in the Gulf.

Experts debate whether such a blockade is feasible and how Iran might respond, with the IRGC warning that Gulf ports should be accessible to all or none.

The move aims to choke Iran's oil exports and economy, but analysts caution that enforcing a blockade could risk environmental disaster and draw the region closer to conflict.

Meanwhile, European leaders are considering post-conflict maritime security roles, and diplomatic efforts continue despite the collapse of recent talks in Islamabad.
