Australia appoints woman to lead its army for the first time

In a historic move, Lieutenant General Susan Coyle has become Australia's first woman to be appointed as the chief of army.

Coyle, ‌55, enlisted in the military in 1987, has held a number of senior command roles.

She will be the first woman to lead any service branch of the Australian military.
