Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), the Banking Committee ranking member, paid tribute to Sen. Mark Warner’s (D-VA) daughter, who died Monday at age 36 after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues.
“We may disagree on policies, and we may do so vigorously, but when it comes to the safety and security and the health of our families, I know we are as one, and we are praying for them,” she said before delivering her opening statement at a confirmation hearing for Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Warsh.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the panel’s chair, then called for a moment of silence.
