Smoke from wildfires burning in northwestern Ontario blanketed Toronto and other parts of southern Ontario, reducing visibility and prompting air quality warnings this week.
Environment Canada warned that heavy smoke poses health risks to everyone and urged people to limit time outdoors and cancel strenuous activities.
At least 183 wildfires were burning across Ontario as smoke spread into the northeastern United States.
Officials said air quality conditions are expected to gradually improve by Friday morning.
