Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised the stability and certainty of China-Russia relations, calling them precious in the face of an international landscape intertwined with changes and chaos.
During a Wednesday meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Xi urged both countries to strengthen strategic communication and diplomatic coordination and called for promoting a comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia to “stand higher.” Relations between China and Russia have deepened, especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Lavrov arrived in China on Tuesday for a two-day visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.
