A Manchester school has gone into lockdown after three people were injured in a serious attack today.

Police descended on the Co-op Academy, on Plant Hill Road, Blackley, this morning, with a schoolgirl arrested.

Three people have been left 'with knife wounds', a police spokesperson said.

A force statement said: "Three people have been injured however injuries aren't believed to be serious at this time.

"Emergency services remain on scene and we are supporting the school.

There is not believed to be any wider threat to the pupils and staff in the school."

Police and ambulance vehicles have been pictured outside the school gates and within the school grounds.

A helicopter has also been pictured overhead.

According to parents, the school is currently on lockdown.
