Pakistan protests to Afghanistan over suicide attack that killed 15 officers
Pakistan has summoned a senior Afghan diplomat to protest a suicide attack in its northwest that killed 15 police officers.
Islamabad blames the attack on the Pakistani Taliban, or TTP, and accuses the Afghan Taliban of sheltering them.
Kabul denies these charges.
On Monday, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said “a detailed investigation into the incident” indicated that the attack was “masterminded by terrorists residing in Afghanistan.” The attack involved a suicide bomber and gunmen targeting a security post.
A splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility.
Tensions between the two countries have persisted despite recent peace talks mediated by China.
