As many as 89 drones broke away from the formation and fell from the sky during a performance at the Vivid Sydney festival on May 25, prompting the cancellation of other shows.
According to an eyewitness, drones fell onto the wharf, narrowly missing staff members, while some plunged into the nearby bay.
The organizers said they would investigate the cause of the accident and have ruled out the possibility of "deliberate interference."
