More than 600 trombonists gather in Queensland for world record attempt – video

A south-east Queensland council claims to have set a new world record for the largest trombone ensemble, after hundreds of musicians gathered at the weekendhttps://www.theguardian.com/stage/2022/feb/11/the-music-man-review-hugh-jackman-dazzles-uneven-broadway-show"> to play the Broadway classic Seventy-Six Trombones.

The Ipswich mayor, Teresa Harding, says there were more than 600 trombonists, beating the previous world record of 368 musicians set in Washington DC in 2012.

In a statement, Harding added: 'To see hundreds of musicians of all skill levels in Tulmur Place ready to try and set a new world record is an extraordinary achievement and one that every participant, volunteer and supporter can be incredibly proud of'
