NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman at 74 says retiring is not imminent
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says nothing is imminent as far as him retiring or stepping down from the job he has held for more than three decades.
Bettman said on his 74th birthday that he has been discussing a succession plan for several years just as any other CEO of a company would.
Reports surfaced hours before his annual state of the league at the Stanley Cup Final that Bettman has been talking to members of the Board of Governors executive committee about a succession plan.
