About 300 flights per day must be cut from the schedule at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on the busiest days this summer in an effort to reduce flight delays, The U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration ordered said Thursday the airlines scheduled more flights than O'Hare could handle, so the government ordered the airlines to make cuts.
Reducing the number of flights is supposed to reduce delays and cancellations at O’Hare, which has one of the worst records for delayed flights.
The airlines will review the order and notify customers as soon as possible if their flights are canceled, so they can be rebooked on other flights.
