Lois Romano: "George W. Bush was totally underestimated."

C-SPAN C-SPAN — 1min

Lois Romano: "George W. Bush was totally underestimated.

When I did interviews and I did a seven-part series actually on W. when he was running for president, and the one takeaway I got, a lot of people talked to me before they shut them down.

And the one thing everybody said to me was, of all the guys at Yale, all the guys in Skull and Bones, that he would have been the least that they would have predicted who would have been president.

And I came away thinking he was grossly underestimated.

I mean, he was the class clown.

It was the president's son.

But he proved to be an incredibly smart political operator and an amazingly disciplined campaigner."
