The United States and Iran appear to be moving back toward diplomacy after President Donald Trump paused military strikes following nearly two weeks of escalating conflict.
Middle East analysts say the pause suggests Washington is increasingly relying on diplomatic pressure after military action failed to achieve its strategic objectives.
Regional mediators including Qatar, Oman and Pakistan are working to facilitate indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
The diplomatic effort also comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to visit Washington, where discussions are expected to focus on Iran, regional security and the situation in Lebanon.
The coming days could prove critical in determining whether the pause leads to renewed negotiations or another round of military escalation.
