Kansas City Chiefs coach Dave Merritt charged with domestic battery
Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Dave Merritt faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
A complaint filed by the district attorney in Johnson County, Kansas, accuses him of causing bodily harm to a daughter.
The Chiefs say they are aware of the arrest but have no comment.
Merritt was due in court later Thursday.
The 54-year-old Merritt spent several years playing linebacker in the NFL before becoming a top defensive backs coach.
He has been with the Chiefs since 2019 and has helped teams win five Super Bowls, including his time with the Giants.
