Labour sets leadership timetable as Burnham eyes July takeover

Labour's ruling body has now confirmed the timetable for electing its new party leader.

It means Andy Burnham could take over as prime minister at a special conference on July 17 - if he is the only MP to enter the race.

But if more than one candidate is able to get the required amount of MPs to back them, then a ballot of members would take place in August with the result announced on the 29th.
