The US has fired 49 Tomahawk missiles at Iran and warned that more strikes will follow unless Tehran agrees to a peace deal.
Washington launched “self-defence strikes” on Iranian targets overnight for the second day in a row.
US Central Command said American forces had hit military surveillance capabilities, communications systems and air-defence sites using precision-guided munitions in response to “unwarranted and continued aggression” by the Islamic Republic.
Tehran retaliated by firing missiles and drones towards US bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain and saying it had shut the Strait of Hormuz.
