The US Treasury Department on Wednesday designated the British group Palestine Action as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), Anadolu reports.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the agency responsible for administering US economic sanctions, added the group to its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN).

The designation was made pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended by Executive Order 13886.

Originally signed in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, the legal authority targets US-designated terrorists and those providing financial, material or technological support to them.

It allows for secondary sanctions against those providing support to the organization.

The US accused the group of supporting “numerous acts of terrorism since” its establishment.
