Properties and vehicles were set alight as violent disorder flared in Belfast on Tuesday evening following Monday night’s knife attack in north Belfast.

Masked protesters blocked roads, set commercial bins on fire and pushed them towards a Glider bus on the Newtownards Road, while several homes in nearby Lendrick Street were also set ablaze, forcing residents to evacuate.

Police reported sporadic pockets of disorder across the city and appealed for calm as officers responded to the unrest.
