Construction of a UFC cage at the White House has begun ahead of June’s event to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence, which also falls on Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
Footage shows cranes and other construction equipment beginning to assemble the fighting cage, which will host the UFC Freedom 250 on 14 June.
The US president has said that the project will be the “biggest event” ever for the UFC, with a 5,000-seat arena built “right outside the front door of the White House”.
There will be no general admission for the fights, which are expected to be invite-only, but fans can apply for free tickets to watch from the nearby Ellipse park.
