At Turning Point event, Vance met with mostly empty arena and Iran concerns

Vice President JD Vance used a Turning Point USA event to defend President Donald Trump’s aggression in Iran and downplay the resulting tensions between Washington and the Vatican.

But some of the attendees at the University of Georgia event on Tuesday were critical of Trump for blasting the pope and also for posting a social media meme that depicted the president as a Jesus-like savior figure.

Trump took down the meme after a backlash.

But the response at Turning Point showed cracks in his coalition.

Vance did not talk about the meme but said he understood that many young conservatives are not happy with the administration's Iran actions.
