Search for missing 11-year-old Parker expands as calls grow for new emergency alert

Global News Global News — 2min

The search for Parker, an 11-year-old autistic boy who has been missing since July 16, continued through the weekend with police, search and rescue crews, and volunteers expanding efforts across Calgary.

Authorities say every available police resource has been deployed as search teams methodically comb Nose Hill Park and surrounding areas.

The case has also sparked a growing campaign for an "Indigo Alert" to notify the public when vulnerable children go missing.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said the province will look at giving law enforcement that additional alert tool this fall.

Craig Momney reports.
