NASA has begun https://www.nasa.gov/gallery/journey-to-the-moon/" target="_blank">sharing the images, including the one above, which shows a striking view of Earth through the Orion capsule's window.
Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman overcame the crew’s https://www.engadget.com/computing/artemis-ii-crew-is-just-like-us-needs-help-with-microsoft-outlook-issues-145230968.html" target="_blank">problems with Microsoft Outlook and https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=c813ae39-7d58-41cb-ac66-ad830606ceef&siteId=us-engadget&pageId=1p-autolink&contentUuid=fe08f6b3-e92d-414b-b2cd-c57defec9f97&featureId=text-link&merchantName=The+New+York+Times&linkText=the+toilet&custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5ueXRpbWVzLmNvbS8yMDI2LzA0LzAxL3NjaWVuY2UvYXJ0ZW1pcy1paS1iYXRocm9vbS10b2lsZXQuaHRtbCIsImNvbnRlbnRVdWlkIjoiZmUwOGY2YjMtZTkyZC00MTRiLWIyY2QtYzU3ZGVmZWM5Zjk3Iiwib3JpZ2luYWxVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5ueXRpbWVzLmNvbS8yMDI2LzA0LzAxL3NjaWVuY2UvYXJ0ZW1pcy1paS1iYXRocm9vbS10b2lsZXQuaHRtbCJ9&signature=AQAAAbWoE8VgYa8RkROzqmE16YXmyHDbCtc1RG1in1DNrza3&gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2026%2F04%2F01%2Fscience%2Fartemis-ii-bathroom-toilet.html" target="_blank">the toilet to capture the photos.

If you look carefully, you can see two auroras: one on the top right and another on the bottom left.
Easier to spot is the diffuse glow of zodiacal light (bottom right) as the Earth eclipses the Sun.
At the time of publication, Artemis II is over 105,000 miles from Earth.
The 10-day journey will have the crew of four looping around the Moon and back again.
Serving largely as a test run for future deep space travel, the mission is NASA's first to the Moon since the Apollo program.
However, the crew won't be landing this time; that will have to wait for Artemis IV, currently https://www.engadget.com/science/nasa-overhauls-artemis-program-delaying-moon-landing-to-2028-164255318.html" target="_blank">planned for 2028.
