16 students at a girls' school in Kenya have died in a fire at their dormitory.
Taking light just after midnight, the fire burned for over two hours. 79 others were injured, but many of them were released from hospital within hours.
Fires are common at Kenyan schools, with over 100 recorded in 2024.
Research has found that many are started by students themselves, in protest at harsh discipline and poor conditions.
