Darwin’s 54th annual Beer Can Regatta – in pictures
The Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta is an annual family event in the Northern Territory’s capital.
Established in 1974, participants use their imaginations to design and construct floating vessels using cans, plastic bottles or milk cartons.
The festival attracts crowds who take in events including tug-of-war, kayaking, thong throwing, in addition to the main beer can boat race event.
