Garcia: Bondi pins blame on Blanche for DOJ Epstein files misconduct

House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-CA) said former Attorney General Pam Bondi pinned much of the blame for misconduct in the release of the Epstein files on current acting Attorney General Todd Blanche during her closed-door interview.

"She continues to push all of the investigation and the blame on Acting AG Todd Blanche," Rep. Garcia told press Friday, outside the room in which committee members were interviewing Ms. Bondi.

Mr. Blanche served as deputy attorney general during Ms. Bondi's tenure.

The California Democrat criticized Ms. Bondi for declining to answer questions relating to President Trump's potential involvement in wrongdoing, and accused the Justice Department of interfering in the probe.

"She would not speak or respond to any questions that had anything to do with President Trump," Rep. Garcia said. "Sitting next to her is DOJ counsel…someone that on multiple occasions stepped in and told the former attorney general that she was not going to answer those questions."

"The DOJ is in there right now, stopping questions about President Trump," Rep. Garcia said.
