An Ottawa Redblacks defensive back is helping local children prepare for the classroom by giving away 100 fully stocked backpacks.
CTV's Patricia Boal reports that Alonzo Addae shared how his family taught him the importance of giving back to the community that supports his professional career.
The initiative is organized through Addae's youth sports organization, Daely, which focuses on community service and athletic development.
The free backpacks will be distributed on a first-come basis during a community barbecue event featuring games and entertainment in the Vanier neighbourhood.
