The head coach, Thomas Tuchel who has been in charge since January 2025, will announce the 26 players to compete in the tournament which starts on June 11.
The major omissions – Harry Maguire, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer etc – have been trailed and while they infect some observers with Spock-eyebrow syndrome, there is some comfort for them in not being blindsided by the brutality of the old way of naming the squad.
