US troops board second tanker as Trump accuses Iran of violating ceasefire

US commandos boarded a tanker that was previously sanctioned for transporting Iranian oil, the American military has revealed.

US Central Command said it had boarded the vessel overnight 'without incident.' The ship, capable of carrying 2 million barrels of crude, last reported its position on Tuesday morning as near Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean, according to MarineTraffic tracking data.

It was close to fully loaded and had signaled Singapore as its destination.

'As we have made clear, we will pursue global maritime enforcement efforts to disrupt illicit networks and interdict sanctioned vessels providing material support to Iran — anywhere they operate,' US Central Command said, adding, 'International waters are not a refuge for sanctioned vessels.'

On Sunday, the US Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted another Iranian-flagged cargo vessel named TOUSKA attempting to pass the naval blockade.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating the ceasefire 'numerous times.'
