King Charles has delivered the King’s Speech in Parliament, setting out Keir Starmer’s government agenda as the Prime Minister faces growing pressure from Labour rebels.

In the speech, the King warned that an “increasingly dangerous and volatile world” threatens the United Kingdom, saying that every element of the nation’s energy, defence and economic security “will be tested”.

The government’s plans include new legislation on immigration and asylum, digital ID, housing, clean energy, EU ties, public services, cyber security, NATO, Ukraine and energy independence.

The State Opening of Parliament comes at a difficult moment for Starmer, with Labour MPs putting pressure on his leadership after recent political setbacks.

The King’s Speech outlined the government’s priorities for the new parliamentary session, including plans to strengthen ties with the European Union, tackle anti-Semitism, reform the NHS and criminal justice system, support Ukraine, increase defence spending and protect Britain’s long-term economic security.
