The Gates Foundation confirmed Wednesday that it is reviewing its ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The external probe marks the philanthropic giant's plainest attempt yet to address Bill Gates' associations with the disgraced financier, captured in Justice Department documents related to its investigation of Epstein.
Those files include email correspondences between the two men about philanthropic projects and photos of Gates at events they both attended.
Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing regarding their connection and denies knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
The Gates Foundation expects its board and management will receive an update on the Epstein review this summer.
