Delhi govt to implement Disaster Management Act; empowers DMs against unauthorised construction
Following a fatal hotel fire, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has invoked the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Officials found negligent or corrupt in allowing illegal constructions and safety violations will face up to two years imprisonment and fines.
District Magistrates are empowered to take strict action, including sealing buildings and recovering losses from guilty officials and builders.
