Sinwar believed Israel might respond to October 7 Hamas invasion with nuclear weapons

Despite concern that Israel using nuclear weapons in response to an invasion was a real risk, Sinwar "did not abandon his messianic vision and emphasized that it would be a 'battle of life or death."
