EU to implement tougher migration pact: Hungary, Poland reject plan

The European Union is set to adopt its strictest migration rules, including pre‑entry screening of up to seven days and extending detention from six months to two years.

The pact creates ‘return hubs’ outside EU borders and requires members to either relocate people from border states or pay $23,000 per person into a shared fund.
