According to the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to deliver an address to the nation on election security and government transparency this evening at 9:00 p.m. ET.
The announcement comes after U.S. Press Secretary Karoline Levitt declined to provide details about Trump's remarks earlier on Thursday at a White House briefing, arguing news reports had mis-characterized what Trump intends to say in his speech.
"I think the American people will be relieved to hear what they are hearing from the president of the United States and his commitment to transparency and the focus on the integrity of our elections tonight," Levitt told reporters.
Her comments on the speech come a day after Reuters reported that White House officials were debating whether the president should disclose intelligence related to China's intentions or capabilities to interfere in the 2020 U.S. election, adding that it did not show Beijing had manipulated or changed votes.
