Iran seizes 2 vessels for "maritime violations'" in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday that two vessels were seized in the Strait of Hormuz for what it described as "maritime violations" and had transferred them to Iranian shores.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would indefinitely extend the ceasefire with Iran to allow for further peace talks, adding he would continue the U.S. Navy's blockade of Iran's trade by sea — which is considered an act of war by Iran.

Meanwhile, Pakistan — who is acting as mediator — had cleared out a luxury hotel in the capital of Islamabad for last-ditch peace talks on Tuesday, in the hopes of reaching a deal in the final hours before a two-week-old ceasefire expired.

Iran, however, never confirmed it would attend, and a U.S. delegation led by Vice President JD Vance never departed Washington, leaving an apparent stalemate in the nearly two-month war and no clear solution to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
