Nasa’s moon rocket https://www.theguardian.com/science/2026/apr/01/nasa-rocket-moon-launch-artemis-ii">Artemis II launched on Wednesday evening (US time), carrying astronauts to the moon for the first time in almost 54 years.
The launch marks the first time since the Apollo 17 mission of December 1972 that humans will have left lower Earth orbit.
The rocket is orbiting Earth and will continue to do so until Thursday, when the translunar injection burn will take place and send it on the rest of its 386,242km journey to orbit the moon
