Kathy Donaghy: The 1926 Census opened a window into the lives of the family members who shaped my own life

It felt as if I was peering in through the windows of the old two-room cottage where my father’s family lived in a maritime townland in north Donegal 100 years ago.

The single page of the century-old document became a prism for how far we’ve come and how painstakingly our ancestors paved the way for us.
