In spring training, White Sox outfield prospect Braden Montgomery already had baseball immortality in his sights.

‘‘My overall goal is to make the Hall of Fame,’’ Montgomery told the Sun-Times on March 1. ‘‘I’ll take it a game at a time, and we’ll see what happens at the end of it.’’

The first game will be very soon.

According to a source, the Sox will call up Montgomery, the club's No. 2 prospect, on Tuesday before they open a three-game series against the Braves at Rate Field.

A corresponding move will be announced later.

General manager Chris Getz is expected to meet with the media this afternoon.

Montgomery wasn't trying to be cocky when he spoke in March, but his confidence was quite evident.

And it was music to manager Will Venable's ears.

‘‘That’s awesome to hear,’’ he said then. ‘‘He’s one of those guys.

If that’s what he thinks and that’s what he’s working for, you just want to support him so he can do that.’’

More to come.
