The 28-year-old man who was already being held in connection with her alleged murder has been re-arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
The home secretary has said the suspect was not known to the Prevent anti-terror programme.
Shabana Mahmood said the death of the former Conservative MP raises "questions about the security of those in public life".
Other MPs called for better protection and a clampdown on social media platforms which display hateful and violent posts about politicians.
