The constituents of Makerfield are voting for their new MP, as the hotly contested by-election is finally here.
After opening at 7am this morning, the polls for the Makerfield by-election will stay open until 10pm this evening.
Labour and Reform supporters from across the UK - as far as Scotland and Essex - have descended on the Wigan constituency region today as polling opens.
They can be seen on the streets of Makerfield showing their party colours and hoping to persuade last-minute undecided votes in what has been tipped to be a 'close' contest that could have a major impact on UK politics.
The highly anticipated Makerfield by-election comes after the sudden resignation of Labour MP Josh Simons on May 14, with the Makerfield MP having confirmed he stood down from the position to make a pathway for Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham to stand for election.
