Dr. Oz announces a Medicaid audit in all 50 states

The Trump administration is requiring all 50 states to explain their plans to revalidate some Medicaid providers.

Dr. Mehmet Oz announced the move Tuesday at a Politico health care summit.

His Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services plans to ask states to share their strategies to verify the legitimacy of certain people providing Medicaid services within 30 days.

The move is part of a federal campaign to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs which so far has mostly targeted Democratic states, and has sometimes erred in its accusations.

Earlier this month, CMS admitted exclusively to The Associated Press that it made a significant error in figures it used to help justify a fraud probe in New York.
